Application

(1) Formic acid is the most acidic acid among monocarboxylic acids, which has a loosening effect on collagen fibers but is milder and more uniform than inorganic acids. The pickling used for fur processing has the characteristics of low damage to hair, soft action, fine and uniform fiber dispersion, and soft and plump finished products.

(2) In chrome tanning, formic acid can play a masking role, which is stronger than acetic acid.

(3) Fur soaking aid has the effect of reducing the pH value of the soaking solution (5.0~5.5), promoting the water filling and expansion of the fur, and inhibiting the growth of bacteria. Organic acid additives such as formic acid and acetic acid are also commonly used for loose or non aqueous skins.

(4) The pickling material used in the rapid vegetable tanning process can accelerate the penetration of tannin extract.

(5) One of the neutralizing agents. In the production of furniture leather, adding 1% to 2% sodium formate during neutralization is conducive to deeper neutralization and keeping the grain surface smooth.

(6) Adjust the pH value of the dyeing bath liquid to fix the color.

(7) Reducing the hardness of water: Adding 3.2mL50% formic acid (relative density 1.121) to 100kg of water can reduce the hardness by one degree.

(8) As a supplement in the production of regenerated leather, it has the effect of promoting coagulation, and the dosage should be less than 5% (concentration).
