sodium hydroxide application

Introduction

Chemical formula is NaOH, in the form of granules or flakes.

Commonly known as caustic soda, caustic soda, flake soda, causti soda.

Highly corrosive, it is slightly corrosive to glassware and forms sodium silicate, which causes pistons in glassware to stick to the instrument.

Avoid glass containers containing hot sodium hydroxide solution for long time, causing damage to the glass containers.

Easily soluble in water to form an alkaline solution, enhancing the conductivity of water, and deliquescent, easy to absorb water vapor in the air. 

The pure product is a transparent colorless crystal. Density 2.130g/cm³, melting point 318.4°C, boiling point 1390°C.

Application

1. Disinfection and Cleaning Products

Used to make soap and various household and commercial detergents.

2. Medicine

Used to help in the manufacture of various medicines and medicines such as pain relievers like aspirin etc.

3. Energy

Used in fuel cell production, and epoxy resins made with sodium hydroxide can be used in wind turbines.

4. Water treatment

Control the acidity of water and remove heavy metals in water, and it can also  be used in the production of water disinfectant sodium hypochlorite.

5. Food production

Used in food processing or making preservatives.

6. Wood and paper

Can be used to separate ink and paper fibers, making paper fibersreusable.
