Dextroglucoside is a high molecular weight glucose polymer produced by the fermentation of sucrose by Leuconostoc mesenteroide-1226, which is processed and refined. Due to the different number of glucose molecules polymerized, products with different molecular weights are produced. There are high molecular dextran (average molecular weight: 100000 - 200000), medium molecular dextran (average molecular weight: 60000 - 80000), low molecular dextran (average molecular weight: 20000 - 40000), and small molecular dextran (average molecular weight: 10000 - 20000). Dextran 40 and dextran 70 have been included in the list of essential drugs for cooperative medical care in rural and pastoral areas.
